2027 Kia EV3: Electric Range, Space and Flexible Daily Use

2027 Kia EV3: Electric Range, Space and Flexible Daily Use

An electric vehicle has to fit into everyday life, not the other way around. Daily commutes, errands, passenger needs and weekend plans can all place different demands on the same vehicle. The Kia EV3 approaches those routines with a compact SUV layout, a choice of battery configurations and both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options.

2027 White Kia EV3

The new EV3 lineup includes Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited trims. The Light uses a Standard Range front-wheel-drive configuration, while Long Range front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available farther up the lineup.

Depending on configuration, preliminary estimated electric range extends from 356 km to 517 km. The EV3 also offers a flexible rear cargo area, a 25-litre front storage compartment, and a cabin centred on digital displays and connected features.

Two Battery Options for Different Travel Needs

The EV3 starts with a 58.3-kWh lithium-ion battery in the Light FWD. Wind models introduce an 81.4-kWh lithium-ion battery, which is also used with the Long Range configurations.

Preliminary range estimates vary according to battery and drivetrain. The Standard Range FWD configuration has an estimated all-electric range of 356 km. Long Range FWD increases that figure to 517 km. Long Range AWD models have an estimated range of 451 km.

This creates several choices within the same vehicle. Drivers with predictable local travel can consider the Standard Range configuration, while those who regularly cover greater distances have Long Range alternatives. Available AWD adds another drivetrain option without removing the larger 81.4-kWh battery.

Charge Options at Home and Away

Charge time can play an important role in how an EV fits into a daily routine. The EV3 supports Level 1, Level 2 and DC fast charging, with times that vary by battery size and charging equipment.

With an 11-kW Level 2 EVSE at 240 volts and 48 amps, preliminary charge times from 10 to 100 percent are:

  • 5 hours 10 minutes for the 58.3-kWh Standard Range battery
  • 7 hours for the 81.4-kWh Long Range battery

DC fast charging can reduce the time required for a 10-to-80-percent charge. With a 350-kW EVSE, the preliminary estimate is 29 minutes for the Standard Range battery and 31 minutes for the Long Range battery.

The Long Range AWD configuration has the same preliminary 7-hour Level 2 estimate and 31-minute 10-to-80-percent estimate with a 350-kW EVSE.

FWD and AWD Choices Across the Lineup

The Kia EV3 lineup gives drivers a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Light is offered as a Standard Range FWD model. Wind can be configured with FWD or AWD, while Land, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited also have both drivetrain choices. The FWD versions use a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a single-speed reduction gear. The AWD configuration uses front and rear electric motors and the 81.4-kWh battery.

Drive modes are included from the Light trim onward. An electric parking brake with Auto Hold, battery heating system and Shift By Wire are also part of the base specification.

Compact Dimensions with Useful Cabin Space

The EV3 measures 4,300 mm long in Light, Wind and Land form, while the GT-Line measures 4,310 mm. Width is 1,850 mm across the lineup. Height measures 1,570 mm for Light, Wind and Land models and 1,580 mm for GT-Line. The wheelbase is 2,680 mm. Preliminary minimum ground clearance is 150 mm for Light, Wind and Land and 157 mm for GT-Line.

Inside, front legroom measures 1,060 mm, while rear legroom measures 950 mm. Front shoulder room is 1,443 mm, and rear shoulder room is 1,400 mm. Front headroom measures 1,015 mm in Light and Wind models and 977 mm in Land and GT-Line versions. Rear headroom is listed at 955 mm.

These dimensions give the EV3 a relatively compact exterior while still providing measurable passenger and cargo space inside.

Cargo Room Beyond the Daily Essentials

The rear seats use a 60:40 split-fold layout, so the cargo area can adapt when larger items need more room. With the rear seats in place, preliminary cargo volume measures 609 litres with the cargo floor in its high position and 740 litres with the floor set low. With the rear seats folded, capacity increases to 1,470 litres with the cargo floor high or 1,600 litres with it low. There is also a 25-litre frunk at the front of the vehicle. That combination creates several storage arrangements without changing vehicles. The rear seats can remain available for passengers during normal daily use, while the split-fold design opens more space when a larger load comes along.

Light Sets the Core Equipment

The Light FWD establishes the standard feature set for the EV3. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED Small Cube projection headlamps, LED daytime running lights and rear privacy glass. Heated and power-adjustable exterior mirrors with LED repeater lamps are also standard.

Inside, the Light has cloth seats and heated front seats. Dual-zone automatic temperature control, rear air vents and a rear floor heating duct provide climate features across the cabin. Smart Key with push-button start is also included. The dashboard combines a 12.3-inch multimedia interface with navigation and a 12.3-inch TFT Supervision cluster. A separate 5-inch HVAC display is also part of the layout. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, six speakers and Kia Connect with over-the-air updates are standard. A front USB charger is also included.

Driver Assistance from the Light Trim

The standard safety and driver-assistance list covers highway travel, lane support, blind spots, parking and cross-traffic situations. Light includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 1.5 with car, pedestrian and cyclist detection plus junction turning capability. Highway Driving Assist 1, Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist 2 are also standard.

Other features include:

  • Smart Cruise Control 2 with Stop and Go
  • Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist
  • Blind-Spot Collision Warning
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
  • Safe Exit Assist
  • High Beam Assist
  • Front and rear Parking Distance Warning
  • Rear View Camera with dynamic parking guidance
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Light also has eight airbags, an anti-lock braking system, Electronic Stability Control, Downhill Brake Control and Hill Assist Control.

Wind Adds Long Range and More Equipment

The Wind FWD changes one of the most significant parts of the EV3 specification: the battery. It moves from the 58.3-kWh battery in the Light to an 81.4-kWh lithium-ion battery. A heat pump is also added. The Wind also adds laminated front door windows and a wireless phone charger.

Drivers who want AWD can select the Wind AWD. That version adds all-wheel drive and swaps the 17-inch wheels used on Wind FWD for 19-inch alloy wheels.

Land Adds Cabin and Exterior Features

Land builds on the Wind FWD equipment list with several exterior and cabin changes. It receives 19-inch alloy wheels, a wide sunroof, auto-flush door handles and Dynamic Welcome Lighting. It also includes LED taillights, power-folding side-view mirrors, Aeroblade wipers, and a Smart Power Liftgate.

Inside, synthetic leather replaces the cloth upholstery. The driver gains a power seat with lumbar support, while an electronic chromic mirror is also added. Rain-sensing wipers join the technology list. It is available with either FWD or AWD.

GT-Line Adds More Comfort and Utility

The GT-Line uses its own 19-inch wheel design and adds GT-Line exterior elements.

Inside, the driver seat gains a memory function, while a power passenger seat joins the equipment list. Ventilated front seats, a sport three-spoke steering wheel and deluxe pedals are also included.

The GT-Line adds Vehicle-to-Load capability and HomeLink.

Vehicle-to-Load, when equipped, allows bidirectional energy flow through the integrated charging system.

Like Land, GT-Line is offered in FWD and AWD configurations.

GT-Line Limited Adds More Driver Technology

GT-Line Limited expands the EV3 driver-assistance package.

Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2 adds functions for junction crossing, direct oncoming traffic, lane-change situations, Driver Steering Assist and Evasive Steering Assist.

It also includes Highway Driving Assist 2. Additional parking and visibility features include Blind View Monitor, Surround View Monitor, Parking Collision Avoidance Assist – Reverse, side Parking Distance Warning and Remote Smart Park Assist.

Technology additions include Ambient Mood Lighting, a Harman/Kardon premium sound system and Digital Key 2.0.

GT-Line Limited is available with either FWD or AWD.

Kia Connect Adds EV-Specific Functions

Connected services provide another way to manage the EV3 during everyday use. Kia Connect includes remote door lock and unlock, remote climate control, Find My Car and vehicle status information. You can also check EV range remotely.

EV-specific services include:

2027 Kia EV3: Something for Everyone

The Kia EV3 offers several ways to balance electric range, drivetrain and equipment within the same compact SUV format.

The Light FWD pairs its 58.3-kWh battery with a preliminary estimated 356 km of electric range. Long Range FWD configurations use the larger 81.4-kWh battery, increasing the preliminary estimate to 517 km. Drivers who prefer AWD can select it on Wind, Land, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited models, with a preliminary estimated range of 451 km.

Across the lineup, the EV3 combines a compact exterior with a configurable cargo area, digital displays, smartphone connectivity and a broad standard driver-assistance package. Higher trims add features such as a Smart Power Liftgate, ventilated front seats, Vehicle-to-Load capability and additional parking and highway assistance systems.

From shorter daily routes to days that require more range and cargo space, the different EV3 configurations let the vehicle's battery, drivetrain, and equipment match different types of everyday travel.
